Zack started cutting hair at the age of 10 with a set of grocery store clippers and willing friends to practice on. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, he continued to cut hair all through high school and college, while pursuing photography. After a few years of being an amateur photographer, he fell back into love for hair. He studied in Portland at Beau Monde College, graduating as a top stylist and looked to as a leader in his class. He studied barbering and hair design in multiple countries around the world: Barcelona, London, Amsterdam, and Dublin. After graduating, he took a position working under Mr. Robert Peterson. There he was trained in precision and a-vanguard cutting, coloring, as well as styling. Also an instructor at Beau Monde College, he instructed students on runway, editorial, and completion hair. He was nominated for teacher of the year for Wella in the spring of 2015. From there he went on to independent contracting at Kelz Beauty and barbering in SE Portland. Zack assisted Kelz Beauty owner Kelli Gasaway behind the scenes for a TV pilot, as well as talking on clients and managing his own books.
With goals to live in Huntington Beach, where he grew up visiting family, Zack came across parlour e.lev.en, with their upbeat style and amazing stylists. He jumped on the chance to fly down to interview. Huntington Beach is now where he calls home.
